When you create a task, note, or news item from a message, FabricLoop keeps a reference to that message so anyone working on it can open the discussion that started it.
From a message
- Open the message menu and choose Task, Note, News, or Event. The same actions are labelled Create Task, Create Note, Create News, and Create Event.
- FabricLoop creates the item from that message and records where it came from.
- Open the new item and choose Created from to open the original message.
- On the message, Created from this message lists the task, note, or news item. Open that card to go back to it.
From a note
On iPhone, iPad, and Mac, create a task from a note (including highlight to task). FabricLoop writes a From note link in the task description. Open that link to return to the note.
Why this matters
Tasks created this way aren't copies of the conversation or note — they're a pointer to it. That means the task stays lightweight (title, owner, due date) while the "why" and full detail stay where the discussion actually happened.
Tips
- You can still add comments and files directly on the task without touching the original conversation — the two build independent histories after the task is created.
- Not every task needs to come from a message or note — plenty of tasks are created directly on the Tasks screen with no conversation behind them at all.
